Sightseeing
Vlkolínec
Vlkolínec is a small village on top of Sidorovo hill close to the town of Ružomberok. It represents a typical mountain settlement of the Liptov region. Documents mentioning this town date back to 1376. The settlement consists of wooden houses painted in pastel colours. Many of them are still occupied. In the centre of the village stands a wooden belfry. This site of folk architecture is included in the UNESCO´s World´s Heritage List.Pribylina - Museum of Liptov region village in Pribilina
The museum was built as a result of the construction of the dam in Liptovská Mara. Buildings from precious sites of the flooded area were transported to Pribylina, where since 1991 the museum of a Liptov village has been open to the public. Visitors of the museum can admire the skills of carpenters and gain an insight into the lifestyle and habits of our ancestors. Here you can visit the house of a shoemaker, ironsmith, and tradesman and see the village school with its classroom, the church of the virgin Mary from Liptovská Mara and the manor house from the village of Parížovce. The overall setting of the village is rounded off with farm buildings, a fire station and an ironsmiths forge. The museum is complete with a small animal farm. Many events showing the traditions and habits of Liptov are often held on Sundays (Children's Sunday, Shepherds Sunday, St. Hubert's Day and Harvest Thanksgiving).Havránok
Havránok -archeological locality – settlement from an early Iron Age, part of a Celtic settlement with a place of sacrifice, wells with bones of seven ritually sacrificed people, remaining of Slavonian fortified place from the 11th century, Middle Age moat, fortification walls and a church.Wooden articular church Svätý Kríž
This church was transported to the village of Svätý Kríž (Holy Cross) from the village of Paludza, which was flooded with the construction of the Liptovska Mara dam. The church was built by Maestro Lang in 1693. It is truly amazing when you consider that it wasn't built following any plans, as he couldn't write or read. Due to increasing numbers of Evangelists the church was enlarged by master Josef Lang in 1774. Visitors can admire the baroque interior with its wooden baroque altar, wall paintings and pulpit, which seen from head on resembles a being supported by an angel. The floor plan is in the shape of a cross.Cyprus holiday villas rentals. Paphos villas for rent.Need to rent a Cyprus villa? Do it online.
