Bratislava

Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia. Bratislava is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Slovakia. It is not only a city of history, culture, delicious food and wine, but also a city where you can relax and have a great time. Bratislava is a city with long history and a renovated historical center, with baroque palaces, fountain, and romantic streets. Like Budapest and Vienna, Bratislava was also a coronation town. The most flourishing time was a three hundred year period, starting in the second half of the 16th century when the city was a coronation town for Hungarian kings. In the 13th century German people named the city “Pressburg”, the Slavic people renamed it to “Presporok”, and the Hungarians used the name “Pozsony”. Bratislava received its final name only in 1919. In 1993 Bratislava became the capital of the independent Slovak Republic.
